Autumn, Tristan & Tanner
I am so inspired and touched by my friend Autumn. She is an example of what it means to be a community. I told her that I didn’t mean to sound dramatic but when I was editing these photos yesterday, I couldn’t help but tear up because they three of them look so natural together. ♥️ Read on for her story. ♥️
“Who are these boys, you ask?? Well, I couldn’t be more delighted and honored to introduce you to Tristan and Tanner, my foster children!!
WHAT??!! You all know how much I love children and how they are literally my life. And most of you know that I have wanted nothing more than to be a mom of some sort at some point. I wasn’t sure of the how or the when; I just knew in my heart it would happen.
The story is so incredible it’s hard not to share…
On Sunday, February 2nd, I was sitting at a picnic table with my brother and two others when a bird pooped on my head. Yes, this happened!! Even more crazy, I started rejoicing rather obnoxiously because it’s supposed to be good luck! When asked, what do you wish for, my first response was “to be a mom” of course! Three days later on Wednesday, I said a prayer, as usual, but it felt a bit different this time. Three hours later that same day, I received a message, out of the blue, from my previous neighbor asking me if I could take in her two nephews that are in the foster care system. An overwhelming feeling overcame me and without hesitation I said YES! I sat at my desk and intensely cried. What a blessing!! On Friday, I had the case worker at my house for a home visit with background check and fingerprints complete. I met the boys on Saturday morning. It was LOVE at first sight!! After 15 minutes the boys asked how soon they could move in with me! On Sunday, their bunkbed was set up in their room in my home and Monday they spent the night! Every day and every minute since “that phone call” has been more fulfilling than words can express. My priorities, my time, my life has completely changed and I couldn’t feel more blessed and honored I get to take care of these sweet boys.
While I diligently pray for their mother to work through the process and continue to make progress, for however long it takes, I am wholeheartedly here for these two incredible children. God loves us! HE knows what we want, what we need and what we can handle. Give it to Him because you never know what amazing, unexpected blessings will come your way and what kind of blessing YOU can be to others!!” Autumn McConnell @ Sarasota, Florida
